I’ve just started going to the gym consistently and I’ve seen a lot of people mention the 5x5 program (StrongLifts / Starting Strength). Is this still considered a solid beginner routine today, or are there better alternatives? My main goal is strength and a bit of hypertrophy. I'm looking to train 4-5x per week. Thanks in advance!
I tried this when I first started out and it was great. Takes some time to learn good form on the big lifts and your mobility might be an issue but if you stick with it, this plan will give you results for sure.
Yea make sure you work on your mobility while doing this plan, squats and deads will appreciate it
Absolutely, my friend recently started the gym and the first plan I told him to try was 5x5. In my opinion it is essential for beginners to teach them about the core movements in resistance training. Try it out for a few months and see how it goes for you.
